6th Grade I.B. Medieval Times Field Study

The 6th Grade Team is planning a field study to Medieval Times in Myrtle Beach, SC on April 8, 2020 to culminate our studies of the medieval period. Students will not only gain valuable information about the Middle Ages, they will also become active participants during the live Medieval Times performance. Please note that the following information is for IB students only.  6th grade students in the LAW program have previously received information regarding this field study.

The cost of the field study is $60 and is nonrefundable.  Payments may be made via Parent Portal  or by cash or check (made payable to E.L. Wright) in the school bookkeeper’s office.  This may be paid in full or according to the following payment schedule:

  •          Deposit / Payment 1: $30.00 due November 26
  •          Final Payment: $30.00 due by 3 pm March 3

HCA Medical Explorers Program

Mid-Carolina AHEC, Inc.offers the 8th grade Health Careers Academy (HCA) Medical Explorers Program for middle school students and they are now recruiting for the 2018-2019 Program.

This program promotes academic success, career development and personal growth for students.  The HCA program provides exploration into health careers and prepares students for the rigors of healthcare training programs through activities that focus on communication, math and science.  The HCA also provides student advising and mentoring sessions.

Parental involvement sessions are provided for parents to learn more about financial aid options and strategies to help their children strive to become future healthcare professionals in South Carolina.

This program will be held at the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus one night a month starting in January.  The orientation will be January 9, 2020.

MedTwo: Stop the Bleed

Stop-the-BleedUncontrolled bleeding from any cause may result in death in as little as five minutes.  Through our Stop the Bleed course, you’ll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively. Learn basic techniques to control bleeding using hands, dressings, and tourniquets. Join us and be ready to make a difference!  We encourage parents and students to take the class together, and together, make a difference!
