Kemp Wins SCEA Art Contest Award

Eighth grade student, Alia Kemp Davis, was recognized as a winner in the People’s Choice category of the South Carolina Education Association’s (SCEA) Read Across South Carolina Student Art Contest. The SCEA recognizes a wide range of creativity displayed by public education students from schools across the state. More than 375 pieces of art were submitted from kindergarten through high school age students. This year, students were encouraged to create works of art utilizing the theme From the Mountains to the Sea, Read With Me. On February 27th, a SCEA representative visited Mrs. Jordan’s English class to honor Alia and present her with a cash prize and certificate (pictured below). Alia is the first Richland Two student to win a Read Across South Carolina award in the three years of the programs existence. Congratulations Alia!
