I went to Richland Two Schools including E.L. Wright as a child. I have two degrees from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in Elementary Education and Special Education K-12 as well as a Master’s Degree in Special Education from SWU. I taught Elementary Special Education in Omaha, Nebraska for five years, and have taught at E.L. Wright since 1993. I have taught Special Education for 29 years and as a tutor. I also serve as the Director of After-School Programs at Windsor Elementary in the summers. I teach because I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I keep in touch with my students and their parents long after they leave my classroom. I believe that love and learning go together. It makes my heart full to see a child happy, safe and learning.
I have two daughters, Ashley and Hannah. Ashley is 27 and is attending Columbia College to follow in her mother’s footsteps to become a Special Education teacher. Hannah is 23 and is employed by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT). My husband, Jeff, also works for SCDOT as an engineer. We have three dogs: Max, Dixie and Baxter. I also have two younger sisters, who both work with children. I love shopping at Thrift Stores, spending time with my family and friends, going to church, and decorating my new home in Blythewood. I also love working with my co-workers at E.L. Wright. We are a family!
