I received my undergraduate degree with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education from Clemson University. My first teaching position was in a First Grade classroom and I taught another four years in special education, serving K-8th grade in both a Resource and Self-contained setting while I pursued my Ed.S degree in School Psychology at The Citadel. I have been a School Psychologist for 35 years starting in Florence School District One, and the last five years in Richland Two. I knew I wanted to become a teacher when I was in the 6th grade as my Math teacher inspired me, challenged me, and encouraged me. Interestingly, I had the opportunity to teach her grandson during my first year teaching. I have one son, Ross, age 33, who is a Major in the United States Army. He is married to Jenna and they have given me two beautiful granddaughters, Caroline, age 4, and Cathryn, age 2. I moved from Florence to Lake Murray and I am engaged to Jamie Rikard, who is a Flooring Supervisor with Coleman Flooring. My family is finished off with my Boykin Spaniel, Chance, who is 15 years old! My biggest interest is in being near the water, whether it is just relaxing with a view, swimming, or being on a boat! I also enjoy cooking when I have the time, and have a tendency to collect cookbooks from wherever I go. Although I moved to Lake Murray, I still enjoy playing handbells with my church in Florence.
