I attended Winthrop University, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Level Education with concentrations in English Language Arts and Social Studies. I have taught English at E.L. Wright Middle School since leaving the university. My interest in becoming an educator dates back to when I was in 6th grade. I had a Social Studies teacher who made learning so much fun. It was a pleasure to attend his class each day. Seeing him inspire students to learn, and want to learn, sparked my interest in becoming a teacher. Additionally, my mom is a teacher with 32 years of experience. She has always loved teaching. Her encouragement led me to a career as a teacher. I am from Charleston, S.C., and my mother, father, and twin sister still live there. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, painting and reading. When I have lots of free time, I love to travel.
