Oxendine's Class Skyping

Students are skyping with a teacher in the Dominican Republic to investigate and research what school is like in other countries.

Ms. Oxendine’s 8th Grade ELA students are currently researching what school is like in other countries. As part of this research, Ms. Oxendine arranged for her students to Skype with a teacher in the Dominican Republic so that they could research, investigate and discover how school is different for students in the Dominican Republic versus the US.

Students were able to ask questions about transportation to school, what the classes were like, what did the students learn, and what school food is like. Ms. Lyndsey Hawkins, the teacher in the Domincan Republic, was able to provide students with an overview of school in the Dominican Republic as well as provide students answers to their questions about life there and how the school differs from here in the United States.
